A kid and another person got hurt in a shooting near a Missouri high school on Saturday, as per North Kansas City Police. This happened less than a month after a big shooting at a Super Bowl celebration in the area.

Two people were taken to the hospital from the scene, said North Kansas City Police Sgt. Christopher Kimmel on Saturday night. Both were in bad shape at first, but later, the young one’s condition got better, though still serious.

The second person’s age wasn’t shared by the police, but they’re getting medical care at a local hospital, according to the city’s statement.

No suspects are caught yet, and it’s unclear how many people did the shooting, as per Kimmel. They’re checking videos and talking to people who saw it happen.

Gunshots happened outside the school after the game at North Kansas City High School, said Kimmel.

Two deputies from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, who were there during the game, were the first to respond. They found one hurt person outside. The police didn’t say where the second victim was found, but it’s still an active investigation to see if there are more victims.

North Kansas City Schools said the shooting happened outside the building on the east side at the end of the game between North Kansas City High School and Staley High School. Everyone inside was told to stay inside while the police came.

People said they saw someone running from the scene, at the entrance to the football field, as per the city’s release.

The district said they don’t have more details but confirmed they contacted anyone involved. They’re waiting for the police to finish the investigation.

This shooting adds to the shock from last month’s shooting at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration rally, where one person died, and 22 got hurt.

Kimmel said, “We want our youth to come and enjoy a basketball game, and then now we are talking about lives that are altered for the worst. I’m sure it’s going to be senseless.”
