Furious Israelis protested against government’s plan to overhaul the judicial system. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that this decision will curb the excessive powers of unelected judges. But, the critics opposed and said that the country’s system of checks and balances would get destroyed in this plan.
The city’s main entrance was filled with marchers holding blue and white Israeli flags. In a very short amount of time, the procession grew from hundreds to thousands in numbers.
More than hundred top former security chiefs signed the petition protesting about the new law.
Joe Biden, the President of U.S persuaded Netanyahu to halt the plan as the outcomes were devastating. Criticism and opposition by the military reservists raised a concern for country’s security interests as the military reservists claimed to stop reporting for duty on passing of the plan.
