Two people lost their lives, and four others got hurt in a shooting in Jonesboro, Arkansas, as per the police. The person believed to be the shooter is no longer alive, according to law enforcement.

Just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, police went to a neighborhood where they discovered several people with gunshot wounds, as mentioned in a Facebook post by the Jonesboro Police Department.

The shooting happened at a private party in an empty building in the city, northeast of Little Rock, according to police spokesperson Sally Smith who spoke to CNN.

The suspect knew the male and female victims who lost their lives, as well as another female victim who got injured, as mentioned in an updated Facebook post by the police. Smith stated that the two female victims were sisters, describing the incident as a domestic shooting.

Three more people got injured, as per the police.

The ages of the victims are still unknown. The male shooter had a connection to one of the female victims, Smith mentioned. The police did not specify how he passed away.

The investigation is ongoing, but the police have mentioned that there is no current danger to the community.

This incident marks one of 73 mass shootings in the US this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. They, like CNN, define a mass shooting as an incident where at least four people, excluding the shooter, get shot.
