A court decision on Thursday said Peter Navarro, a former adviser to Donald Trump, must go to prison next week. He got a four-month sentence for not obeying Congress.

Navarro wanted to wait outside prison while his case was being appealed. But the court said no. They didn’t think his appeal had a good chance of winning.

Navarro argued that he should be allowed to use executive privilege as a defense. But the judges disagreed. They said even if he claimed executive privilege, he still had to give certain documents and testify.

Earlier, Navarro was found guilty of not following a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Capitol attack in January 2021.

Trump supported Navarro, saying his book should be respected, and called him a patriot.
