Earlier this month, a very sad event occurred just outside Philadelphia. The news came from the District Attorney, Jack Stollsteimer, who said that four out of the five family members who lost their lives were shot in a chaotic incident that also involved a house fire.

According to Stollsteimer, one family member took the lives of his brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces. In the end, he shot himself during the incident on February 7. The youngest child passed away due to breathing in smoke, as determined by the medical examiner.

Stollsteimer expressed deep sorrow for the entire community during a news conference on Wednesday, calling it an absolute tragedy.

The incident started when the police responded to a report of a child being shot in East Lansdowne. As soon as the officers arrived, they were shot at. Shortly after, the house caught fire, and most of it was engulfed in flames, leaving only a burnt structure behind.

The Le family, consisting of eight members, lived in the house. The grandparents were the ones who called 911. The surviving family members are the grandparents; the rest, including Canh Le, Xuong Le, Britni McLaughlin-Le, and their three children, did not make it.

Investigators believe that Canh Le had an argument with his niece Nakayla, and it took a deadly turn when he retrieved a semiautomatic pistol from his bedroom.

Le tragically killed his brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces. He also shot two police officers who arrived at the scene. After setting the house on fire, he took his own life, as reported by the district attorney.

Following the fire’s containment, authorities discovered six bodies at the location. The medical examiner confirmed that all victims were connected to the property, according to Stollsteimer. The district attorney mentioned that Le carried the motive to his grave, and no legal charges will be pursued.
