Emma Heming Willis, Bruce Willis’ wife, got upset about an online story saying her husband has lost joy in life. She shared a video on her Instagram, feeling tricked by a headline about her family. She didn’t name the source but insisted the headline was wrong. Emma clarified that the reality is the opposite, and she wants people to be more careful with such stories. Bruce retired from acting in March 2022 due to a speech disorder called aphasia, and later was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a brain condition affecting the frontal and temporal lobes. Emma urged people not to believe scary headlines about neurocognitive diseases and asked for more understanding.

Last year, Heming Willis shared in an interview that dealing with her husband’s diagnosis of dementia was tough for him, her, and their two daughters. Willis also has three older daughters from his previous marriage to Demi Moore.

Heming Willis told Hoda Kotb on NBC’s Today show, “Dementia is really hard. It’s tough on the person diagnosed, and it’s tough on the family. It’s the same for Bruce, me, and our girls.”

However, in a written message with her video, Heming Willis clarified that there’s more to their situation than what headlines suggest. She called reports about “neurocognitive disease” “misinformation” and said, “I’m not even talking about my family. I’m used to the craziness of these exaggerated headlines. I’m just talking about basic dementia awareness and what’s being told to the public.”

In another interview last year, Willis’ daughter Tallulah, from his marriage to Moore, mentioned that the family wants to “spread awareness about FTD.”

“If we can share something we’re going through as a family to help others, to turn it around, to create something positive – that’s really meaningful for us,” she explained on the “Drew Barrymore Show.”
