E’minie Hughes, a 12-year-old girl missing from the Houston area, has been found safe, according to police on a social media platform.

She was last seen on February 22, and an Amber Alert was issued by Houston police suspecting she might have been taken for trafficking.

Police announced she was found in Columbus, Texas, which is about 73 miles away from where she disappeared.

The FBI Houston also confirmed their involvement in the rescue, stating they’ve assisted in finding two missing children in two days.

Details on her discovery and the ongoing investigation weren’t disclosed by the authorities.

Initially, it was thought E’minie left on her own, but new information made the police think otherwise.

She was last spotted entering a dark four-door pickup truck around 1:40 a.m. local time.

Police hinted she might have been using a social media app called Tagged.

Tagged’s parent company stated they’re cooperating with law enforcement.

E’minie’s mother, Shannon Williams, mentioned she vanished after being seen before bed, taking only an Android tablet and her clothes.

It’s unsure if she was communicating with someone online. She had gone for a walk just hours before her disappearance.

About 460,000 children go missing in the US each year, with a significant portion likely being trafficked.

Holly Priebe Sotelo, a social work professor, emphasized the importance of parents talking to their children about setting boundaries, especially online.
